 Clare Back

Staff Nurse, RN

Clare is a qualified nurse with a background in Orthopaedic nursing.  She has worked as a practice nurse within a G.P. Surgery for the last 6 years.  Clare loves her role within the Surgery which includes respiratory and cardiac care, wound management and baby immunisations (although she doesn't like making the babies cry!)

Clare has always had an interest in travel medicine which started within the surgery, offering travel advice to patients. Clare has been developing the interest within the last 3 years, culminating in May 2009 with the completion of the Foundation Course in Travel Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Glasgow.

As with all the staff here at the Travel Clinic, Clare enjoys her fair share of travelling which has included travel to Asia, Africa and Europe.  The list of places as yet to travel is too long to include here!  Clare is a keen photographer and uses travel as an excuse to practice this hobby.

Penny Sibthorp
Nurse

Penny is a qualified nurse with a background in accident and emergency and acute medicine but currently works within the primary care setting, which is where she has developed her interest in travel medicine. Having had a gap year living and working overseas she is keen to meet other people who are about to embark on a similar experience. Her next trip is to Africa to fulfill a lifetime ambition by going to see mountain gorillas in Rwanda. She can often be seen reading the lonely planet guide (or similar!) to the next place she is travelling to and then on the plane home is guilty of plotting and planning her subsequent trips! She is also a keen horse-rider and skier and hopes to have a go at snowboarding this season.
